External content connector on service portal

Hello,

I am trying to configure External content connector plugin on my instance to use it for integrating Servicenow with sharepoint. I have referred the official documentation by servicenow for the configuration.

Business Purpose : To enable enhanced search capabilities in the Servicenow IT Service Portal by integrating Sharepoint  data into the  search results. When a user performs a search in the portal, the system should also retrieve content from Sharepoint's digital workspace.

All the document and videos related to this plugin refers to ESC portal or workflow data fabric or virtual agent.
Has anyone implemented it for Service portal ? Is this feasible there as i don't see it working in my case for IT service portal ?

You can use the External Content Connector (XCC) plugin to bring SharePoint (and other external systems) into your AI Search, and then configure your portal’s search widgets to use that AI Search profile (with the external content source included), but because the portal’s default search is often a simpler table query it might require customizing the portal search widget or page to leverage AI Search so external documents show up, so verify that XCC is installed and configured, that your external schema and search source are linked to the portal search profile, and then adjust the portal widget (or switch to AI Search based components) so the external results are surfaced.....
