No Specific multiple choice type field for catalog item

Now either there are two ways

1. Create checkboxes for each choices
2.Create a custom table and reference it 

It becomes quite challenging when you change field type from single choice to multiple select type as a part o requirement. Creating a custom table for this doesn't make sense. Is there any plan in future for ServiceNow to create actual multiple select type field ?

Future plan only ServiceNow can share thoughts

But currently that's the only workaround which many implementation team uses to achieve their requirement.
