Star rating survey

Rocco K_hling

Hello,

I want to give a 5-star rating on a poll, the same way knowledge articles are rated. When starting the survey, the 5 stars are not filled. The higher the rating, the more filled-in stars are displayed.
Example: a click on the middle (3rd) star means 3 stars.

As a result, three filled stars are automatically displayed.

Apparently I can't do this in the survey designer. I can set up 5 stars as the image scale, but then I can only mark one star in the preview.

Does anyone here have an idea?

Thanks.

Hi @Rocco K_hling ,

Did you tried using templates in Survey designer??
https://docs.servicenow.com/bundle/tokyo-servicenow-platform/page/administer/survey-administration/t...

I have used the OOTB templates

1) Satisfactory.  2) Smiley Face

Here is preview

Also there is option to create your own template.

Hope this helps !

Ask:
Could you please provide the steps to create a 5 star rating survey template that takes input in the same way as knowledge articles?

Answer:
I asked that question more or less at the beginning: "I can set up 5 stars as the image scale, but then I can only mark one star in the preview."

Create your own survey template:
1. Select "Survey" an click "Template".

2. Existing templates are displayed in the list view. Click "New" in the list view for a new template of your own.
3. Give the template a name.
4. Set the Allow Images option.
5. Click on "New" under "Assessment Template Definition" so that assessment criteria can be created, e.g. an assessment with a scale of 1-5.
6. Enter a display name and value for each assessment template definition, e.g. display "very good" and value 5 to display "very bad" and value 1.
7. In the Assessment Template Definitions, the image can be uploaded and stored for Selected Image and Unselected Image that is displayed if the assessment was selected or not selected, e.g. smilies or a stars.

This custom template can be selected in the survey designer.

Unfortunately, only one rating can be selected and the selection displayed without the scale being displayed. So if value 3 is selected, only the star at 3 will be displayed instead of displaying 3 stars. I haven't found a solution to this yet.

Hi @Rocco_k_hling,

In the 6th step you provided, do we need to upload any kind of image for each Assessment Template Definition ?

e.g. display "very good" and value 5 and then to add a image of 5 star to it ?

How do we display these stars ?

Thanks

not sure if I do understand you correctly. Here is what I did :

- create a template for the icons (in my case star faces)

- add values to the icons from 1-5, name them according to the rating

( i reached out to marketing, but u can find on the internet a set of empty/full faces)

- upload one "empty" icon and one "full" icon for each value

- go back to the survey designer and implement them

Hope this helps

HI Stephan,

Thank you.

The other concern here is, when we select a daily or weekly or monthly in schedule period of survey and after saving the form it is automatically creating a schedule job. but it is not sending surveys at that schedule period.

How can we make to send survey to be sent at the schedule period ?

Thanks

I am sorry I don't understand your approach (and the printscreen is blurry).  Why would you send surveys in that way its sounds for me a bit complicated (sorry).

Here is what we did: if Incidents move to state resolved n% of the tickets will receive a survey randomly (or you go to 100%).
